Top Things To Consider When Buying A Fruit Juicer

October 14, 2009 · Filed Under citrus juicers, lemon juicer · Comment

A fruit juicer is a very quick way to extract the juice from the fruit. There are many different types of fruit juicers. How do you know which one to choose? Well, here are some things to consider before buying one.

1. Easy to Clean? When I bought my first juicer it was a PAIN to clean. This led me to get another one. So consider what it takes to clean the machine. Some clean a lot easier than others.

2. Easy to Operate? Do you want a manual or electric juicer? If electric, consider the wattage. Some motors are 30 watts and others are 150+.

3. Price. If you are looking for a lifestyle change consider getting a professional fruit juicer. If you are looking to pull it out once a week then you may not want to pay for a professional one. You can get a basic fruit juicer for around $20 USD.  A professional juicer can cost $100+ USD.

4. Size. Some juicers are small and compact while others can be a lot bigger. Depending on what your goals are you may want to consider the size.

You may also want to consider how the machine separates pulp and seeds and whether or not you can control the amount of pulp. Be sure to check out reviews once you narrow down your choices.

Black & Decker Citrus JuicerThe Black and Decker Citrus Juicer is a 30 watt easy to use juicer machine. This is very similar to the CJ525 but has a little bit more power. It is sleek and compact and it also has a wrap around cord. It also comes with a reversal reamer to squeeze out every bit of juice possible. It also comes with the large 32 ounce pitcher and no spill spout. After looking through the reviews from around the ‘net most are very positive. The only downfall is that it will only juice citrus (duh!) ;) and that it is plastic.

automatic citrus juicerThe Oster 3186 Juice-n-Serve 27-Ounce Automatic Citrus Juicer is more powerful than the Black and Decker Citrus Juicer at 150 watts. Even though it has a lot of power it stills runs smoothly and quietly. It has a reverse action motor that helps with the juice extraction. It also has a pulp and seed separator which comes in very handy. The Oster has a juice level indicator and also a place to store the cord.  It comes with a 27 ounce detachable pitcher as well. The average price is between $15-25 USD. Reviews from around the web say it is small, compact, and easy to use.
